suicide attack in WardakAt least three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following a suicide attack in central Maidan Wardak province on Sunday.

According to local government officials, the incident took place in Syedabad district on Sunday afternoon.

Provincial governor spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani said the suicide bomber rammed a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) into the convoy of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces.

Khogyani further added that two eight people, including two ANA soldiers and six civilians were also injured following the attack.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Wardak is among the volatile provinces in central Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.
