The Afghan National Cricket Team captain Asghar Stanikzai has played down the absence of the Indian captain Virat Kohli during the upcoming test match between Afghanistan and India.

“All Indian players are good and everyone is (a similar standard to) Virat Kohli. I believe we are playing with Team India and not with Virat Kohli,” Stanikzai was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Stanikzai further added “Indian conditions are good for spin and we are lucky to have good spinners,” said Stanikzai.

“Our batsmen are in good form. In the last three or four years our team combination is good. We will try and play good and positive cricket,” he said, adding that “Winning and losing does not matter.”

This comes as the Indian Cricket Board officials on Tuesday announced the squad for the one-off and historic test match against Afghanistan scheduled for June.

The officials are saying that the Indian side will be led by Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of Virat Kohli who will be playing County cricket in England during the period when the Afghanistan and India historic Test match will be played.
