The National Directorate of Security (NDS) Chief Masoom Stanikzai defended the decision by the directorate regarding the arrest of a local uprising commander in Kabul.

Speaking during a session of the Upper House of the Parliament on Tuesday, Stanikzai said commander Alipur has violated the law emphasizing online videos are available to prove the command’s guilt.

Stanikzai further added that the government does not want the culture of impunity to become common in the country and the security force have the capability to arrest such people.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), earlier had confirmed the arrest of a local uprising commander Alipur alia commander Shamsher in Kabul, stating that the uprising commander was arrested from Qala Qazi area of the city on Sunday.

NDS in a statement had said commander Alipur has been arrested on charges of illegal armed activities, extortion, and attacks on Afghan security forces.

In the meantime, commander Alipur has pledged full support and cooperation with the government and security institutions with the investigations regarding allegations against him.

In his commitment letter to the government, commander Alipur has also pledged to register his weapons with the government or transfer the weapons to government’s control.

He also vowed to remain in Kabul until the investigations are not completed and would refrain from participation in public gatherings.
