Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set a new North American opening-day box office record, earning $168 million and surpassing Avengers: Endgame, while positioning itself for one of the biggest opening weekends in cinema history.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has broken the North American opening-day box office record with $168 million in ticket sales, overtaking the previous benchmark of $161 million set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
The Marvel-Sony blockbuster also established a new record for preview screenings, collecting $72 million before its official release, surpassing Endgame’s $60 million preview total.
Sony Pictures has revised its domestic opening-weekend projection to around $300 million, reflecting stronger-than-expected audience demand. Industry analysts, however, estimate the film could challenge or even surpass Avengers: Endgame’s record $357 million North American opening weekend if momentum continues through Sunday.
The film has also delivered a strong international performance. In India, it has earned about $25 million net (approximately $30 million gross) within its first three days, outperforming several recent local blockbusters.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink. The film follows Peter Parker as he navigates life in a world where his identity has been erased from public memory after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
