Shelling from Pakistan injures 5 civilians in Kunar province

Pakistan shelling AfghanistanAt least five civilians were injured in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan following cross-border shelling from the other side of Durand Line.

Provincial police chief, Gen. Abdul Habib Syed Khe, said nearly 20 rockets were fired in Dangam district on Sunday night.

Gen. Syed Khel further added that five civilians were injured after an artillery shell landed on a residential house.

This comes as a civilian was injured on Saturday night while another civilian was injured on Wedneday night following cross-border shelling in Kunar province.

Local officials in Kunar province are saying that the cross-border shelling from the other side of Durand Line still continues despite protests by government officials and local residents.

The Pakistani military has been shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kunar and Nuristan during the recent years which has left dozens of people have been killed or injured following the cross-border shelling.

According to reports, the Pakistani military has fired over 5,000 rockets in Kunar province during the past two years.
