Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold sincere talks to resolve the burning issues, including Kashmir.

The Prime minister, in an interview with Al Arabiya news channel, said, “My message to the Indian leadership and Prime Minister Modi is that let us sit down on the table and have serious and sincere talks to resolve our burning issues like Kashmir.”

He claimed that shocking human rights abuses were occurring daily in Kashmir and that India had usurped the Kashmiris’ supposed autonomy under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. The autonomy was taken away in August 2019.

He noted that minorities in India were harassed and urged, “This must stop so that message can go around the globe that India is ready to have dialogue.”

He also said that India and Pakistan were neighbors and had to live with each other.

India and Pakistan have been involved in geopolitical contests since independence in 1947, and Kashmir has been the main issue. They have fought three wars, and several others faceoff over Kashmir issues.

He conveyed to the Indian Prime Minister that the war only “brought more misery, poverty, and unemployment to the people. We have learnt our lesson and want to live in peace provided we can resolve our genuine problems, Shehbaz said.

Both the countries are nuclear powers armed to the teeth; if God forbid a war breaks out, who will live to tell what happened,” he remarked.

He asserted that the leadership of the United Arab Emirates could play a significant role in bringing India and Pakistan together and promised to have sincere talks with the Indian leadership.
