Shahrukh Khan summoned by court over public smoking

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan has been summoned by the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in Jaipur for publicly smoking in the Sawai Man Singh Stadium on April 8 during an IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

He was captured on camera lighting the butt following which a complaint was filed against the actor by Anand Singh Rathore, who moved to court against the actor.

According to reports, the complaint was filed by Mr Anand Singh Rathore who runs a cricket academy for youngsters. Mr Rathore complains stated that SRK is an idol and his fans tend to copy him.

He says the the star team owner is idolized by his fans, some even patterning themselves after the actor. So when Mr Khan is seen lighting up in public, he says it sends the wrong signal to his young fans.

As of now the charges against the star appear to be more moral than legally damaging. If found guilty, Mr Khan will only need to cough up a fine of Rs. 500.

When Shahrukh was kicking the butt at the stadium, the clipping was shown on TV. Smoking publicly is an offence and Shahrukh along with other actors have committed this offence number of times.
