Shaheen Asmayee won the Afghan premier league’s 9th Season championship match against Simorgh Alborz, defeating the tough rival by 1-0.

The team has defended their championship title and cup for the fifth time in the history of the League.

Simorgh on the other hand has advanced to the finals three times but was not able to claim the title.

The champion club representing the capital city Kabul beat Simorgh Alborz representing the northern zone of Afghanistan by scoring one goal ahead.

Shaheen’s player Fardin Hakimi scored the goal in the 19th minute of the first match, while Simorgh players got the chance to score a goal in the 30th minute of the game, but was announced offside by the assistant referee.

The ground was packed with spectators including prominent political figures like Vice President Amrullah Saleh, HCNR head Abdullah Abdullah.

First Vice President Saleh also expressed his gratitude to the Afghan national security members, for providing security certainty during the games, as it ended without any incident.  

Fans including men, women, children, and families from all around Afghanistan voiced their cheers and encouragements for their teams inside the stadium, such sporting events have created an environment for the public to come together and exhibit their unity to the world.   

The theme likewise for the game was chosen, “One Nation, One Voice”.
