With star studded actors like Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Jimy Shergill and many others, the movie turned the impression of Indian cinema not only in Asian countries but also worldwide.
Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan has had its UK television premiere. The film became a trending topic on Twitter following the Channel 4 screening.
“Director Karan Johar’s fourth movie is an ambitious family drama set in America,” stated the Channel 4 website.
The movie’s distribution rights were brought by Fox Star Entertainment. The story was put together very well by Karan Johar and Shibani Bhatija and the rest was carried on by the actors. My Name is Khan created a great deal of publicity for itself even before it got released.
Before its release, the film generated a great deal of publicity for itself due to three main reasons: first, the multiple political controversies surrounding the film and its lead actor; second, Khan’s presence in the film (he was last seen in a leading actor role in December 2008, when Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released); and third, the reunion of the “golden pair” of Khan and Kajol, who last appeared together in the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001.
My Name Is Khan was released on February 12, 2010. The movie starred Bollywood icon Khan as an autistic man who, in the aftermath of 9/11, travels across America to win back his wife Mandira (Kajol).
After more than 2 years, the movie is still making lots of noise in the International market. Due to the huge success of the movie, it was recently telecasted in London on Channel 4 at 12.20am. The movie was liked so much that the name of the movie started Trending on Twitter.
