Several militants were killed after the Special Forces of the Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), stormed a hideout of the Taliban militants in eastern Nangarhar province.

The provincial government issued a statement claiming that fifteen Taliban militants were killed during the operation conducted late on Monday night.

The statement further added that the NDS Special Forces targeted a hideout of the Taliban group in Maigan area of Hesarak district, leaving at least 15 militants dead.

According to governor’s office, several weapons, munitions, and explosives were also destroyed during the operation.

At least one Taliban militant was also detained alive during the operation, the provincial government said, adding that a number of airstrikes were also carried out on other Taliban hideouts.

The provincial government says heavy casualties have been inflicted on Taliban militants during the airstrikes as well but there are no credible information available in this regard.

The local residents and security personnel have not suffered casualties during the operations, the statement added.
