Provincial police chief, Zarawar Zahid, confirming the report, said the Taliban leader was killed in Angaran area, the provincial capital of Ghazni city on Wednesday.
Deputy provincial governor, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi also confirmed that the Taliban leader, Mullah Gul Mohammad was killed in an ambush by Afghan security forces.
Mr. Ahmadi further added that the Taliban commander was involved in major attacks against the security forces and roadside bombings in Ghazni province.
In the meantime, provincial police chief, Zarawar Zahid, said that the elimination of Mullah Gul Mohammad was a major blow to the Taliban militants operating in Ghazni.
He said Mullah Gul Mohammad’s elimination will have a positive impact over the security situation in Ghazni provinces and other adjoining provinces.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
Ghazni is among the volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where Taliban militants are actively operating in its various districts and routinely carry out insurgency activities.
