Taliban commander killedA senior Taliban commander was killed following a military operation by Afghan national security forces in eastern Laghman province.

Local officials said the operation was conducted early Monday morning in Dara-e-Noor Lam area of Alingar district.

Provincial governor spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak said a senior Taliban commander recognized as Mullah Zakirullah was killed during the operation.

Zwak further added that two other militants were also killed during the operation and another Taliban militant was arrested.

According to Zwak, Mullah Zakir was involved in major terrorist attacks in eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Laghman is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are active in a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
