A senior commander of presidential security guards succumbed to his injuries he had sustained in an explosion in Kabul city.

According to reports, General Abdul Ghafr Ahmadzai, the commander of Presidential Security Guards succumbed to his injuries in Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital.

The Taliban group spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed in a statement that an attack carried out by the group wounded Gen. Ahmadzai in 16th district of Kabul city last Thursday.

The statement further added that the group carried out the attack in Sarak-e Bala area of Kabul city.

Meanwhile, the Office of the President (ARG Palace) in a statement said President Ashraf Ghani visited Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital earlier today to pay tribute to the services of Gen. Ahmadzai.
