Sediq Sediqi: Security forces preventing advancement of Taliban in Kundoz city

Sediq-SediqiSediqi Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior told a press conference in Kabul on Monday afternoon that security force have been preventing the advancement of Taliban militants in Kundoz city.

He said that security forces have good cooperation and are moving ahead vigilantly in order to prevent civilian casualties.

Sediqi further said that a security plan was prepared to clear of insurgents from the city.

He hoped that by the end of the day security forces will have full control over the city.

However, reports from the area suggest that Taliban have occupied several government compounds and hospital in the city and are now trying to reach out to the police HQ and governor house.

Taliban launched the attack on Kundoz city from western, northeastern and southern sides last night.

Public Health officials in Kundoz have told media that seven civilians and 14 security men have lost lives and 47 others, most of them civilians, have been wounded in the clashes.

In the morning, Police HQ of Kundoz  confirmed killing 20 Taliban in the clashes.
