The Afghan forces repulsed a Taliban offensive on security posts in Logar inflicting heavy casualties on assailant militants.

The 203rd Thunder Corps in a statement said the security forces repulsed the attack with the support of the coalition air power.

The statement further added that the Taliban militants attacked the security posts in Azara district of Logar.

However, the Afghan forces effectively responded to the attack with the coalition air support, killing at least 19 Taliban militants.

The 203rd Thunder Corps also added that the security forces also wounded 5 Taliban militants during the clashes.

The anti-government armed elements including Taliban have not commented regarding the clash so far.

The security situation in Logar province has deteriorated during the recent months.

Taliban militants are active in some districts of the province and often conduct terrorist related activities.

Meanwhile, the Afghan forces routinely conduct counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in this province.
