A court in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh has summoned Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and officials of Style & Content Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. in connection with an alleged ₹30 million rupees (about US$345,000) investment fraud linked to the Being Human jewellery brand.
According to Indian media reports, the summons were issued after businessman Arun Gupta filed a criminal complaint alleging that he invested nearly ₹3 crore to establish a Being Human-branded jewellery outlet based on assurances of commercial support and profitability. The court has directed all accused to appear on October 5, 2026.
Gupta alleged that he entered into a business agreement with Style & Content Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., the company licensed to manufacture and market Being Human jewellery, and fulfilled his contractual obligations. He claimed the company initially promised continuous product supply, marketing assistance and profitable operations but later failed to honour those commitments, causing substantial financial losses.
The court’s order relates only to the preliminary stage of the proceedings. The issuance of summons does not constitute a finding of guilt, and the court has not ruled on the merits of the allegations.
Salman Khan has been named in the complaint because of his association with the Being Human brand, which is linked to the charitable Being Human Foundation founded by the actor.
However, Indian media reported that Style & Content Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. has maintained that Salman Khan was not personally a party to the commercial agreement and that the jewellery business operated independently under a licensing arrangement.
The court is expected to hear the matter when the parties appear on October 5, after which it will decide the next procedural steps in the case.
The latest legal development is unrelated to Salman Khan’s previous high-profile criminal cases, including the 2002 hit-and-run case and the 1998 blackbuck hunting case, both of which involved separate legal proceedings and different allegations.
