Officials said snowfall had closed the highway on several locations but after the hectic efforts of the maintenance department, it reopened for traffic on Friday night.
General Mohammad Rajab, head of the maintenance department of Salang said public is able to use the highway to get to their respective destinations.
Musa Khan, a passenger who was on his way from Kabul to Mazar-e-Sharif said around 11:30 am that he is close to entering the Salang Tunnel and there is no problem.
Salang Highway connects the northern provinces of Afghanistan with capital Kabul.
Due to heavy snowfall in the winter season, the highway sometimes closes for traffic, making passengers to wait for days and even weeks to drive through it.
