The explosion outside the Russian embassy in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on Monday claimed the lives of two embassy personnel and one civilian and resulted in the injury of at least ten other people.

According to foreign media citing the Russian Foreign Ministry, the blast in Kabul, which took place outside the Russian embassy, killed two employees and injured several others near the diplomatic mission.

The suicide bomber who detonated the explosives was identified by the Taliban security forces, according to the Taliban-run Bakhtar news agency. According to Bakhtar, the Taliban forces opened fire on the suicide bomber and killed him.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives near the entrance to the Russian Embassy on Darulaman Road in Kabul, according to Afghan police, who added that the attacker was shot dead by armed guards as he neared the gate.

According to Khalid Zadran, the spokesperson of the Taliban police in Kabul, the Taliban security forces shot and killed the bomber “before reaching his goal” of detonating the explosives among people near the Russian embassy.

Earlier on Monday, at about 11:00 a.m. an explosion took place near the Russian Embassy, which according to the Taliban authorities left one dead and ten injured.

Health officials at the Istiqlal Hospital, where the incident’s victims were transferred, also told the media that one person was killed and ten others were injured.
