Following concerns about the increasing terrorist threats, Russia and Tajikistan conducted a joint military exercise along the border with Afghanistan.

Tajikistani media reported that this four-day military exercise was held “against any potential threats” along the border with Afghanistan.

Russian military equipment at the 201st military base in Tajikistan also participated in this military exercise, practicing various combat tactics, especially tactics to counter terrorist groups that illegally enter Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s neighboring countries have repeatedly expressed concerns about what are perceived as terrorist threats originating from Afghanistan.

The Taliban has so far not commented on this joint military exercise held near Afghanistan.

It’s worth mentioning that in the previous year, armed forces from both countries, Russia and Tajikistan also conducted a joint military exercise along the border with Afghanistan.

Last year’s exercise was held within 20 kilometers of the Afghan border, with military units from Russia and Tajikistan participating.

It is noteworthy that the 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders.

This military base is located in the cities of Dushanbe and Bokhtar, and according to available reports, concerns about the growth of terrorism in Afghanistan have led to the planning of this joint military maneuver near Afghanistan’s border.
