Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Akhan Rahmetullin recently engaged in discussions regarding Afghanistan’s security situation and efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.
The two officials exchanged comprehensive assessments of the current security situation, focusing on international terrorism, extremism, and the illegal drug trade in the context of the Middle East, Afghanistan, and other critical regions.
During their talks, both sides emphasized the urgency of addressing the growing challenges posed by these issues, particularly in the context of the rapidly evolving political landscape in Afghanistan. In response to these security threats, Central Asian countries, within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), have intensified their security and border cooperation.
