Local sources said at least five people were injured after a rocket hit Kunar governor’s office in the provincial city of Asadabad on Monday morning.
Iqbal Sayed, Kunar governor told media the incident happened while a Holy Quran competition was ongoing.
According to him three students (Quran Reciters) and two government employees in the compound were injured.
Security officials have so far did not comment on the incident.
No group or individual took the responsibility for shooting the rocket.
Meanwhile, security sources in Paktika province said Abdul Karim, police chief for Waza Khwa district was killed in a Taliban attack.
Shah Mohammad Arian, spokesman for Paktika Police HQ told the media that the incident happened in Waza Khwa district on Sunday evening.
The commander was ambushed while he was supplying police checkpoints in the Marjan area of the region.
Arian said no harm was reached to other security force members during the attack, but the Taliban have claimed that in addition to killing the Waza Khwa police chief two of his bodyguards were also wounded during the clashes.
In another incident, sourced told media that following an explosion on Sunday afternoon in Maiwand district of Kandahar, Abdul Waris, commander of the special forces unit was killed and Abdul Basir Achakzai security chief for Zherai district was wounded.
This comes as violence in Afghanistan escalated following US-Taliban agreement in Doha, last year.
