Afghan army casualties on riseAt least two Afghan national army soldiers were killed following a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.

The Afghan defense ministry following a statement, said the incident took place in Sangin district of Helmand province on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Afghan defense ministry spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi, said Afghan national army soldiers discovered and seized 28 improvised explosive device (IED) along with two motorcycles packed with explosives during an operation in Sangin district.

Mr. Azimi further added that Afghan army soldiers also discovered and seized 38 improvised explosive device (IED) during a separate operation in in Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province.

The anti-government armed militant groups in Afghanistn including the Taliban group have not commented the reports so far.

Taliban militants and other insurgent groups frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) to target Afghan and coalition security forces.
