An Improvised Explosive Device explosion claimed the lives of two children in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said an Improvised Explosive Device planted by enemies went off in Chahabar Bolak district killing two children.

The statement further added that the explosion took place in Khanabad area of the district.

Furthermore, the 209th Shaheen Corps said the children were playing in the area when the IED went off.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the incident so far.
