The local Taliban officials in Nangarhar province, in eastern Afghanistan, say that a motorcycle collided with a truck resulting in the death of two people, the motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger.

The traffic accident allegedly took place on Monday, October 31, in the Bati Kot district of this province, before the afternoon, according to Jawad Shirzad, the traffic manager for the Taliban authority in Nangarhar.

The motorbike rider and the pillion passenger died as a result of the traffic accident in the province, the Taliban traffic official told the media.

The road accident was caused by speeding and careless driving, according to Shirzad, the Taliban’s traffic official in the province of Nangarhar.

Previously local Taliban officials said that a traffic accident in the central Afghan province of Bamyan left two people dead and three more wounded.

According to Abdul Saboor Farzan Saighani, the governor of Bamyan’s spokesman, a Mazda truck headed toward the city of Bamyan from the Yakawlang No. 1 district strayed off the road and flipped over in the Kotal Shahidan region.

While traffic accidents have increased in various provinces of Afghanistan, road deterioration, irresponsible driving, and disregard for traffic regulations are the main reasons for accidents on the road, which considerably increase the number of traffic-related fatalities in Afghanistan.
