Rescue operations underway as flooding hit Parwan, casualties in the rise

Local sources in Parwan province said over 46 people have been killed and 80 others have been wounded due to last night’s deadly flooding.

The floodings started around 2:00 AM on Wednesday morning in Charikar city of Parwan province. Heavy rains were the main cause of the floods, Wahida Shahkar a spokeswoman to Parwan governor told Khaama press.

On the other hand, Afghanistan national disaster authority has stated that 300 residential structures were destroyed, the statement also added that numbers of casualties and financial losses by the floods are elementary and the figures are changing.

Health groups and machinery are dispatched on the site to support and rescue the people trapped.

According to the repots, Ghulam Baha-uld-in Jilani, Minister of National Disaster Management Authority has traveled to the suffering area and a major search and rescue operation is in progress.
