
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and discussed Afghanistan issues.
According to the statement released by the Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al Thani, discussed “supporting stability in Afghanistan” with the Foreign Minister of Iran among other issues.
Further details about the agenda of the meeting on Afghanistan between the two high-ranking diplomats were not shared, the statement said.
It is stated that the Qatari premier discussed with Abdollahian several topics including trade cooperation, investment opportunities, regional stability and the latest development about Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran’s Islamic Regime has taken serious steps to improve its relations with the Gulf States in the past months. in recent years, these countries have come closer to Israel, Iran’s arch-enemy, despite the differences over the Palestinian issue.
After visiting Qatar, the Iranian top diplomat traveled to Oman, which hosted secret negotiations between the representatives of the United States and Iran on reaching a new nuclear agreement in the recent past.
Last month, the Qatari Prime Minister traveled to Afghanistan’s Qandahar province and met with the Taliban’s supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, and possibly discussed many issues Afghanistan is currently plagued with.
