Unknown militants destroyed an electricity pylon that transfers the energy to Herat province, the office of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the militants destroyed a pylon that imports electricity from Iran to Herat; the incident happened in Kalat-e-Ghazi village in Ghoryan district.

At least 50 percent of the people are reportedly left without electricity since Wednesday night.

The electricity will be connected until there are no threats from the militants, and security personnel is deployed to clear the area.

Herat’s DABS department says the pylon was severely damaged and is trying to send a technical team to the area as soon as possible for the restoration of the energy source.
