Vladmir Putin became Russia’s president for the third time after spending the last four years as the Prime Minister of the country. He got about 60% of the vote in the presidential election.

A widespread fraud has been reported by the opposing groups saying many people have voted more than once, but Mr. Putin insisted on full honesty and transparency while speaking to his supporters at a rally in central Moscow.

Vladmir Putin thanked his supporters from every corner of Russia and said with watering eyes, “I promised you we would win, and we won, we have won in an open and honest battle. We proved that no-one can force anything on us.”

Slogans raised by supporters were “Putin – our president” and “We believe in Putin”, but there were hints that some of the participants were ordered to attend.

This comes as a mass protest has been called by the opposing groups on Monday in central Moscow.
