President Karzai gears up for higher education reforms

Afghan president Hamid Karzai urged to improve higher education in Afghan universities by implementing english lectures specifically to medical and engineering students.

While speaking in a seminar to improve education and employment system president Karzai said lack of access to books and educational material is the main reason and barrier towards economic development in Afghanistan.

President Karzai said the issue was shared with the ministries of education and higher studies and they have reached to an agreement to implement medical and engineering classes in English language.

He said Afghan students will be facilitated with more education material and books once English classes are started in the Universities of the country.

This comes as the lectures are being conducted in Dari language in capital Kabul and other major cities of Afghanistan.

President Karzai also pointed towards poisoning school girls in a number of provinces of Afghanistan and said the students were poisoned continuously during the last one month, however, he did not comment regarding the main motive behind poisoning school girls in Afghanistan.

Several school girls were poisoned recently in Takhar, Bamiyan and Kunduz provinces of Afghanistan.

Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate for Security (NDS) accused Taliban group for attacks on Afghan schools. Afghan girls were prohibited to attend school and university during the regime of the Taliban however Taliban denied attacks on school girls.
