President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday met with the Commander of the US Central Command General Joseph Votel in ARG Presidential Palace.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the meeting was organized on Thursday evening in Gul Khana Palace.

According to ARG Palace, the two sides discussed the US strategy for South Asia, fight against terrorism, reforms in security and defense sectors, and the upcoming parliamentary and district councils elections.

The ARG Palace further added that the participants of the meeting described the reforms in security and defense sectors as positive and insisted on further cooperation between the two nations.

The visiting US CENTCOM Commander and the US delegation vowed to support Afghanistan during the upcoming elections, specifically to assist with the security of the elections.

The parliamentary and district councils elections have been scheduled for 20th October this year.
