President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has ordered to dismiss at least five senior government officials in western Herat province.
Nazifullah Salarzai, spokesman for President Ghani confirmed that five provincial directors were dismissed after listening to the complaints of the local residents.
The dismissed officials include chief prosecutor, provincial education director, head of the petroleum department, head of the customs department, and head of the Breshna electricity department.
According to Salarzai, President Ghani is also considering to replace police chiefs in 15 districts of Herat province.
The unannounced visit by President Ghani to Herat province was followed by a report presented by a delegation, suggesting rampant instability and bad governance in this province.
President Ghani was accompanied by a delegation of high level government officials during his visit to Herat. He returned to Kabul late on Saturday night.
