President Ghani appoints four new provincial governors

ArgPresident Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has appointed four new provincial governors, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) announced on Thursday.

The four new governors were recommended by IDLG and approved by Presidential Palace.

A statement released by IDLG states that Mohammad Yaseen Zia has been appointed as the governor for Takhar, Zahir Wahdat for Sar-e-Pul, Sayed Anwar Sadat for Faryab and Abdul Sattar Bariz for Baghlan province.

Mohammad Yaseen Zia was a deputy to the former director of National Directorate of Security (NDS).

Zahir Wahdat has worked as the deputy governor for Balkh province.

Sayed Anwar Sadat has served as the representative of the people of Sar-e-Pul province at Wolesi Jirga or the Lower House of Parliament.

Abdul Sattar Bariz has served as the deputy governor for Faryab province.

The new appointments in northern part of the country come as it is going through severe insecurity under the leadership of acting governors.
