Zakhilwal_Tokyo-670x318The Afghan finance minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal warned that the continued delay in approving the mining law will affect the foreign aid to Afghanistan.

Zakhilwal urged the Afghan parliament to pass the mining law as soon as possible as majority of the foreign investors are waiting for the approval of the law.

He said the donor countries will not fund the projects which have been approved for the implementation as the major portion of the foreign aid committed during the Tokyo conference is subject to development in Afghan government’s commitment.

According to Zakhilwal, the approval of mining law is critical for continued foreign aid to Afghanistan.

The Afghan mining law consists of 20 chapters and 116 articles which was forwarded for approval to Afghan parliament in June last year.

The Afghan mining and petroleum minister Akbar Barekzai also said that delay in approving the mining law was a major issue than security to Afghan investors.
