Security sources confirmed to the media that a female police officer and her husband were sprayed with bullets in southern Helmand Province.
The husband of the wounded policewoman is reported dead following the incident.
Unknown gunmen attacked Malala a police employee and her husband in PD1 of Lashkargah the capital of Helmand province while she was on her way to work.
During the shooting Malala’s husband was also with her and he was killed, suspects still at large.
So far, security officials have not commented on the assassination attempt, and no group or individual has claimed the responsibility for the incident.
This comes as the security situation has deteriorated across Afghanistan, recently in Kabul on Saturday unknown armed men killed a young man in the Company area in PD5 of the city.
One of the involved perpetrators have been arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, in another criminal incident on Sunday morning in the same area, gunmen shot and injured another individual.
Police told media, that both incidents are being investigated.
