PM Sharif Arrives Ankara to Attend President Erdogan’s Inauguration Ceremony

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shebaz Sharif arrived in Ankara on Friday to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the invitation of the Turkish president, according to a statement. 

Officials from the Turkish Foreign Ministry and Pakistan’s Diplomatic Mission in Türkiye received the prime minister upon his arrival at Esenboga Airport, Ankara.

The Pakistani premier was accompanied by Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and special assistant Tariq Fatemi to Türkiye.

While being in Türkiye, the prime minister will also meet with prominent business leaders from different domains including energy, infrastructure, food processing and consumer goods, according to the statement.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the runoff presidential election which took place on May 28, as he secured more than 50 percent of the votes, while the opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 47.82 percent, according to official results.

Dozens of heads of state, 13 prime ministers, and parliamentary and ministerial-level representatives from international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), NATO and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will attend the inauguration ceremony to be held at the Presidential Complex.
