Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces arrested a group of four insurgents, who were appointed to assassinate Nangarhar provincial governor, Maulavi Ataullah Ludin.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) following a statement announced Tuesday that the insurgents had plotted to carry out terrorist attacks against the Nangarhar governor.
The statement further added that the insurgents had packed explosives inside the computers, mobile phones and other electronic equipments to carry out the attack.
NDS in its statement also added that the detained insurgents are residents of eastern Nangarhar province, and they have confessed that they received insurgency training on the other side of border, in Pakistani tribal regions.
The detained insurgents have also confessed that they were sent by a Taliban group leader, Qari Sulaiman, to assassinate the Nangarhar governor, NDS added in its statement.
Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the report.
