Pamir Airways was inaugurated in May 1995 and is the first private airline in the history of Afghanistan to receive the Air Operator Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Islamic Government of Afghanistan. Pamir Airways derived its name from the one of the highest mountain ranges in the world; the PAMIR MOUNTAIN is located in Afghanistan and throughout Central Asia.
Initially, Pamir Airways started its operation with one Boeing 707-320 and two AN-12 aircrafts.During the past two hajj seasons, Pamir Airways played a major role in successfully serving Afghan pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. Pamir Airways carried 9000 pilgrims in 2004 and 15000 pilgrims in 2005.
We are proud of our accomplishments to say that Pamir Airways has contributed and provided at the request of Government of Afghanistan a DC-10 aircraft free of charge to transport the Afghan Government’s aid workers and supplies first aids to the Tsunami victims in Indonesia at the year 2005.
A well managed and safe air transport system is a crucial component for the success of Afghanistan. In addition to empowering the Afghanistan infrastructure, Pamir Airways also tried to renew its Air Operator Certificate to have an efficient role in the Afghanistan Air Transport System. Pamir Airways will be also a benefit and an influence on other important economic development sections with the country, such as rebuilding efforts, economic development and stabilization of the Afghanistan’s Government. Therefore, Pamir Airways has received its renewed Air Operator Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Transport of Afghanistan and operated its first flight on 21st May 2007 between Kabul / Dubai / Kabul with Boeing 737-200.
Market research proves that there is urgent need for a well-managed and reliable air transport system in Afghanistan. Pamir Airways ambition is to provide an alternative to the existing air services. Hence, Pamir Airways will carry the motto (FLY WITH CONFIDENCE) and will be embodied by the entire staff. Pamir Airways will provide its services for Afghanistan by emphasizing secure and dependable air transportation for the passengers and shippers who import and export goods and stuff on international and domestic routes.
To expand its air services, develop the business and much better services, Pamir Airways came into a new sharing agreement with Kabul Group on 1st April 2008 and entered into the market with the new purchased Boeing 737 aircrafts.
Currently Pamir Airways is operating its schedule flights with two newly purchased Boeing 737 aircrafts, which are the youngest aircrafts registered in Afghanistan.
