Pakistan’s Ex-President Pervez Musharraf Passes Away at 79

Former President General Pervez Musharraf died in a Dubai hospital at the age of 79, his family confirmed on Sunday, Geo News reported.

The report stated that he was undergoing treatment for an ailment at an American Hospital Dubai.

Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943, In Delhi, four years before the India-Pakistan partition. He graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul and was commissioned on April 19, 1961.

He also participated in the 1965 war between Pakistan and India and the 1971 war between Pakistan and the newly independent state Bangladesh.

On October 12, 1999, he took power in a coup d’etat in Pakistan. In 2001, he joined hands with the US and backed the war in Afghanistan. As a result, the Taliban-ruled government was toppled by the US, and a new republic government was established in the country.

The Ex-president Pervez Musharraf passed away yesterday in an American Hospital in Dubai.
