According to Pakistani media outlets, a woman in Pakistan cut-off the penis of a man while he was attacking to raper her.

The woman told Police that she was alone at home when the rapist entered the home, attacked her to rape.

The 25-year-old woman claimed resisted and promptly rushed to the kitchen to get a knife for self-defense.

She then proceeded to cut off the alleged rapist’s penis, police official Mohamed Ilyas told the DPA news agency. 

The man, 28, was rushed to the Civil Hospital in the nearby city of Faisalabad where he received treatment for his injuries. 

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jaranwala Bilal Sulehri, the man and the woman knew each other and the man was due to be marrying someone else. 

An investigation into the incident has been launched.    

Hundreds of women are raped in Pakistan each year but the abuse often goes unpunished due to weak legislation and reluctance of victims to come forward.  

In Pakistan, approximately 70-90% of women face some form of domestic abuse during their lifetime and marital rape is common.
