Tuesday, May 17 – According to Pakistani Intelligence, at least two Pakistani paramilitary soldiers were injured following an air strike by NATO-led forces helicopters on Tuesday.
According to an official with the Directorate of Inter-Services Intelligence, the helicopters crossed the border from Afghanistan and stroked targets in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, hitting the two soldiers.
North Waziristan is a base for Afghan Taliban and al Qaeda militants who use the territory to mount attacks on NATO forces across the border.
Tuesday’s strike is the second cross border strike by NATO-led forces, In September NATO helicopters killed three Pakistani troops in Kurram, a neighboring tribal region.
But NATO officials did not comment on today’s incident yet.
Militants have been targeted by U.S. drone strikes, which have increased the anger of Pakistani citizens and officials.
Following the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a raid earlier this month by U.S. special forces on a compound near Pakistani military garrison two, U.S. has increased pressure on Pakistan to act against the insurgents activities in this country.
