Pakistani rebels among 5 killed in Afghan army operations

JMOCCCT-2012-014 Op ANA Sister 004At least five militants including four Pakistani rebels were killed following military operations conducted by Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers.

Defense Ministry spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi, said Sunday that the operations were conducted during the past 24 hours in various provinces of Afghanistan.

Gen. Azimi further added that two militants were also injured during the operations and three others were arrested.

Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers also confiscated 40 kgs of explosives along with 23 improvised explosive device (IED) during the operations, Gen. Azimi said.

He did not disclose further information regarding the casualties of Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
