Pakistan shelling AfghanistanAt least 70 rockets were fired in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan in the latest wave of cross-border shelling from the other side of Durand Line.

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said Sunday that the rockets were fired in the past 24 hours in Dangam district.

Sediqi further added that the rockets were fired by Pakistani military.

This comes as local officials said Saturday that 33 rockets were fired in Dangam district on Friday night.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said last week that nearly 213 rounds of mortar and artillery shells were fired in Sarkano and Dangam districts in the first 11 days of the month of Mizan.

The Pakistani military has been shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kunar and Nuristan during the recent years.

According to the local officials, over 5000 rockets have been fired in Kunar province during the past two years which have left dozens of people dead and several others injured.
