
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry in a press release said that terrorists have been using Afghan soil to carry out terror attacks in Pakistan and have asked the Afghan government to secure the border region.
The Ministry’s spokesperson in the statement said that security along the Pak-Afghan border has increased recently wherein Pakistani security forces are being targeted from across the border.
The press release is made public after Pakistani aircrafts conducted airstrikes in the Spera district of Khost province killing over 40 people.
“Pakistan has repeatedly requested Afghan Government in last few months to secure Pak-Afghan border region. Terrorists are using Afghan soil with impunity to carry out activities inside Pakistan.” Reads the press release.
The press release further added that recent terror activities along the border are detrimental to the country’s efforts of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the Ministry acknowledged that Pakistan respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity while willing to continue to work closely with the Afghan government to strengthen bilateral relations.
