The Interior Minister of Pakistan has stated that, in the initial stage, migrants lacking valid legal documents will be sent back. In contrast, in the subsequent phase, migrants registered with the United Nations and individuals with Pakistani government identity cards (CNIC) will face expulsion.

On Saturday, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, stated during an interview with Geo News that Afghan migrants without legal documents would be expelled in multiple phases.

He emphasized that migrants without valid residence documents and those who entered the country with fake identities are the first targets in this phase.

According to Pakistan’s Interior Minister, the plan for identifying illegal immigrants was completed by the end of October, and after the specified deadline, all illegal migrants will be detained.

Bugti added that approximately 15,000 to 20,000 migrants have voluntarily returned from the country.

He stressed that all illegal migrants should leave Pakistan, bringing the total number of migrants, including registered refugees with the United Nations and holders of National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), to three million.

This comes with just two days left until the deadline for illegal immigrants to leave Pakistan, and this process is rapidly increasing.

Reports indicate that in less than a month, out of 1.7 million migrants without legal documents, more than 86,000 have been expelled.

Additionally, more than two million Afghan citizens live in Pakistan without legal documents.

It should be noted that despite international pressure to reverse Pakistan’s decision, the country continues to emphasize the expulsion of migrants.
