Former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef said, Afghan peace talks with the Taliban group will lead to a failure if Pakistan participate in peace talks.

Abdul Salam Zaeef following an exclusive interview told British Broadcasting Corporation, other nations like India and Iran will also emphasize to participate in Afghan peace if Pakistan is involved in this process.

He said, Afghan peace talks will be shared among the 6+2 nations if Pakistan is involved in peace negotiations.

The neighboring countries of Afghanistan in addition United States of America and Russia forms the 6+2 nations who were involved in brokering talks between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban group before the fall of the Taliban regime.

Mr. Zaeef emphasized that it would be better if Afghans decide about their future themselves in order to eliminate the barriers created by the strangers and pave the way for peace talks.

In response to Pakistan’s fears for being threatened by other nations using the Afghan soil Abdul Salam Zaeef said, Afghan government should react to the as an unambiguously.

He also said that the neighboring counrtries of Afghanistan will prevent to interfere to internal affairs of Afghanistan only if the Afghan government would be able to assure them that the Afghan soil will not be used against the neighboring countries of Afghanistan by any other nation.

In the meantime political analysts believe that the recent comments by former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan expresses the tendency by Taliban group to hold peace talks with the United States of America.

Abdul Salam Zaeef used to be Taliban ambassador in Islamabad in 2001 and was arrested in Pakistan at the beginning of 2002.

He was released on 11 September 2011 after he served in Afghan detention facilities and Guantanamo cell.
