At least 15 militants were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, according to Pakistani security officials.
The operations were carried out on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with security forces targeting suspected militants in Khuzdar district of Balochistan and Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said.
In Balochistan, security forces conducted an operation in the Shor Purod area of Khuzdar after receiving intelligence about the presence of armed militants. Officials said an exchange of fire followed, leaving 10 militants dead and several others wounded.
Separately, police and security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bannu after receiving information about the presence of an armed commander. Police said five militants were killed in the ensuing clash.
The security authorities did not provide figures for possible casualties among their own forces.
Officials also claimed that weapons, ammunition and a drone were recovered during the operations. According to the authorities, militants had used drones to target several police posts, although the reported attacks caused no casualties.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, both of which border Afghanistan, have remained among Pakistan’s most volatile regions. The two provinces have experienced repeated militant attacks and armed clashes in recent months, amid renewed security concerns along Pakistan’s western border.
The latest operations come as Pakistan continues to face a rise in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Islamabad has repeatedly accused militant groups operating from or maintaining networks across the Afghanistan border of involvement in attacks, while kabul have rejected allegations that Afghanistan territory is being used against Pakistan.
