Pakistan releases 7 more Taliban prisonersAccording to reports, Pakistan has announced the release of 7 more Taliban prisoners from Pakistani jails in a bid to facilitate peace talks between the Afghan government and Taliban group.

The release of more Taliban prisoners by Pakistan comes shortly after president Hamid Karzai’s visit to Pakistan, which mainly focused on Pakistan’s assistance to help the Afghan peace process.

The prisoners include Mansoor Dadullah, Said Wali, Abdul Manan, Karim Agha, Sher Afzal, Gul Muhammad and Muhammad Zai, Pakistan’s foreign affairs ministry confirmed in a statement.

This comes as the Afghan foreing affairs minister, Dr. Zalmai Rassoul earlier expressed hopes that Pakistan will take practical steps to help the Afghan reconciliation.

In the meantime, the foreing minister warned that peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan will not be achieveable unless Islamabad does support fight against terrorism.

He said, the economic and security issues which threatens the stability of Pakistan will not be resolved unless the government of Pakistan does not support fight against terrorism in the region.
