A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft was seized by authorities in Malaysia over non-payments, a report said.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft has been “seized” at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport due to a lease dispute, leaving the passengers stranded, according to ARY News on Tuesday.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) leased the Boeing 777 from Malaysia. At the airport in Kuala Lumpur, the BMH-registered aircraft was detained for the second time over payment of dues worth $4 million.
According to PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan, the company seized the PIA plane after a Malaysian court ordered its seizure at the lessor’s request. Khan stated that the disputed money had already been paid and that the state-owned airline would seek legal options to free the plane.
The airport officials seized the same aircraft over the same issue in 2021. According to the report, it was later freed after receiving a diplomatic guarantee from Pakistan over the payment of dues.
The report said that on January 27, 2021, the seized PIA plane and its 173 passengers and crew members were returned to Pakistan.
The Pakistani government has always spent its money to fund terror activities and fill its own pockets. They have pushed Pakistan towards an economic crisis.
