Pakistan dispatches 2nd exclusive cargo aircraft carrying relief to Turkiye

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), as directed by Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif, dispatched a second exclusive cargo aircraft for Turkiye with a further 90 tons of relief, including 1,200 family tents that have been winterized and are fire-resistant.

This was the second air relief to earthquake-hit Turkey. Federal Minister dispatched the first aircraft with 90 tons of winterized tents for Education Rana Tanveer, which was received in Adana on Sunday, stated by NDMA.

Both flights are a part of special air bridge operations that will send tents to the brotherly country using more than 34 chartered cargo planes.

Earlier, Pakistan sent C-130 planes with relief supplies and rescue personnel to the quake-hit Turkey. The aid relief “21 containers loaded with relief goods for Turkey, including winterized tents, blankets and other essential articles,” said NDMA.

On 6 February 2023, a 7.8 Magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and Syria in which more than 55,100 deaths were confirmed, including 47,900 in Turkey and more than 7,200 in Syria.

It was the deadliest quake in the history of Turkey, making it the most fatalist natural disaster in the country’s modern history.

According to the estimation, the earthquake’s damage was estimated to be over $ 100 billion in Turkey and $ 5.1 billion in Syria, making it the fourth-costliest earthquake in history.
