The Pakistan Army and the United States conducted two-week joint military drills at the Counterterrorism Center in Pabbi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. During this exercise, forces from both countries engaged in training operations focused on counterterrorism.

A spokesperson for the Pakistani armed forces announced in a press release that these military teams will also share their experiences in tactics, techniques, and anti-terrorism procedures.

According to Ahmad Shereef Chaudhry, this exercise aims to enhance cooperation and coordination between Pakistan and the United States in the fight against terrorism.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the volatile provinces of Pakistan and is known as a hotbed for Pakistani Taliban activity. The Pakistani Taliban has carried out bloody operations against Pakistani military personnel in this region.

Pakistani authorities claim that leaders and fighters of the Pakistani Taliban have sought refuge in Afghanistan under the control of the Afghan Taliban and are using Afghanistan soil against Pakistan, while the Taliban has denied these allegations.

Two weeks ago, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved Operation “Resolve” to combat terrorism and extremism nationwide. The United States has expressed support for this operation.

The US State Department asserts that Washington and Islamabad share common interests in combating threats that endanger regional security.
